Q: What is Health Professionals, Inc.?                                                                                               

A: Health Professionals, Inc. primarily is a home care agency that provides in-home caregiving fo Seniors or anyone who needs assistance with Activities of Daily Living.

·        We are also a medical registry and staffing provider to hospitals and facilities in the Bay Area.

·        We provide licensed and background checked Caregivers, Home Care Aides (HCA), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Home Health Aides (HHA), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), Registered Nurses (RN), Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) for private pay only.

 

Q: Is Health Professionals, Inc. insured, licensed, and bonded?
A: Yes, Health Professionals, Inc. has been in business since 2000 and is licensed by the State of California and bonded as well. We are insured and all of our employees are covered under Workers Compensation. We also have general & professional liability insurance covering our employees while providing services to our clients. We are an experienced agency you can count on.

 

Q: How much notice do you need?
A: We typically ask for 3 days advance notice, but we can place someone within hours if required.

 

Q: Does your health insurance cover the cost of non-medical home care?
A: Normally, health insurance policies do not cover our services. Medicare and Medicaid do not pay for home care. Usually, only Long-Term Care (LTC) insurance policies cover our services depending on what type of policy you have. We also accept Workers Compensation insurance as well. However, we cater to the individual needs of our clients so you only pay for the services you require.

 

Q: Do you accept personal checks? Credit card?
A: Yes, we accept both.

 

Q: How do you select your caregivers?
A: Health Professionals, Inc. selects Caregivers based on their years of experience in providing care, have special qualities, such as a heart for service, patience and compassion that we require in all of our employees.  We ONLY look for those with a true passion for helping the elderly that’s why we have so many wonderful Caregivers that stay with us for so long. We match the right caregiver based on client needs.  Our Caregivers are trained and have successfully completed a LiveScan background check with FBI & DOJ, references check, TB tested, and CPR certification. Each Caregiver is also licensed, bonded, and insured.

 

Q: What are the duties of the Caregiver?
A: The Caregiver will provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living such as personal care, bathing, grooming, dressing, walking assistance, cooking, meal preparation, light-housekeeping, medication reminders and enjoyable companionship.

 

Q: Are your services available for the elderly in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or bedside sitting in a hospital?
A: Yes. We are available hourly, live-in (24 hours), long-term, short-term or respite care.

Q: Does someone from your office come to our home or hospital to introduce the company and the services provided?
A: Yes.

Q: Do you keep a journal in our home to document activities?
A: Our Caregivers document observations and activities of what they did during their shift with the date and time. This is a wonderful way that keeps family members aware of what is going on. It is great to have written observations that doctors usually want to track progress of a patient.

 

Q: What about live-in, 24-hour help?
A: Live-in help can be provided by Health Professionals, Inc. Live-In Caregivers require:

·        A place to sleep and food for three meals a day (Caregiver prepares the food)

·        Space to put their clothes and other necessary items

·        8 hours of sleep/rest per day

·        Additional time for meals and breaks required by Federal and California law

 

Q: What is better to have a live-in or come-and-go (hourly) Caregiver?
A: Live-in or 24 hour Caregiver are available 24 hours a day. That does not mean that they are actually going to work that many hours, but they are always nearby in case you need them. Therefore, that is a very cost effective option for people who need assistance at different times throughout the day.

 

Q: Who pays the Caregiver - me or you?
A: Health Professionals, Inc. handles all the billing, payroll, taxes and the insurance for you. They are not allowed to accept money directly from you.

Q: Can the Caregiver help with writing out my bills or help with my banking?
A: No, it is strictly against our company’s policy.

Q: My loved one does not want help from a home care agency, but he or she needs it. How do I get them to accept help?
A: It is not always easy for most people to accept that they need help. We have years of experience working with seniors who initially resist offers of assistance, only to find that health and quality of life are improved when our services are in place.
